Second-hand accounts indicate the youth was around 15 years old.

An FSU student says the accused operative used alcohol, threats about his grades, and physical force to trap him and compel sexual conduct.
The student reported the incident to police. Police confirmed key parts of his account using business records, witness statements, and a recorded phone call.

One day after the accused operative’s arrest, an unidentified man contacted FSU police and said he had experienced a “similar incident” as the FSU Intern.

A former intern says the accused operative offered him alcohol and later asked what the student could do for him in exchange for more time to complete a paper.
The accused operative suggested that they go out for beer. The student believed he was being sexually propositioned, declined the invitation, and completed the paper early.

A student says the accused operative showed what he believed was a sexual interest in him after a political event.
During a later encounter, the accused operative allegedly took him into a fraternity bedroom, closed and locked the door, and told him to sit on the bed. The student felt unsafe and immediately left.

A local political figure contacted a friend after a Democratic event, sobbing and visibly upset. He disclosed that he had been sexually assaulted by someone with political power.
After speaking with his husband, he decided not to come forward. He feared that the backlash, particularly as a gay man in Florida, would be worse than trying to heal privately. His description of what happened closely matches accounts later provided by others.

A college student met the accused political operative at a political event. The operative offered to help him secure a role on a campaign and invited him to dinner.
During the dinner, the operative offered the volunteer alcohol and then asked him to go for a drive. Inside the car, the operative touched him sexually without his consent and invited him back to his home.
The volunteer got out of the car and left. He later disclosed the assault and identified the accused operative by name.

A political science student attending school in Tampa Bay met the accused political operative, who offered him an internship and promised to introduce him to political contacts who could help him find a job.
The operative invited him to dinner to “discuss his career”. Afterward the operative kissed and groped him without his consent.

Accused operative (age 32) spends night alone with a Boy Scout youth without another adult present. Second-hand accounts estimate the boy’s age to be 15.

After investigating the matter of spending the night with the Boy Scout youth, Boy Scouts of America organization concludes the accused operative violated policy, revokes his registration, and requests that he sever all relations with the organization.

Aug 1994
Accused operative is reported the the Florida Department of Health & Rehabilitation Services via the Child Abuse Hot Line.

Prior to
June 1995
Florida Democratic Party spokesman Tony Welch confirms the accused operative was on the party’s payroll as a fundraiser for an unspecified period.

June 1995
Accused operative is fired from his position with the Florida Democratic Party. The reason for the termination is not provided.

April 1996
Computer equipment is stolen from the Florida Senate Office Building during Easter weekend. Capitol Police later identify a laptop sold by one of the accused operative’s former students as property taken during the burglary.

August 1996
The accused operative begins working for Florida State University’s College of Social Sciences through a series of nine-month contracts and is placed in charge of a three-credit internship.

October 1996
A printer later linked by investigators to the accused operative is stolen from the Florida House Office Building.

July 1997
Florida State University Student Senate President submits a formal complaint concerning the accused operative, who is an adjunct professor during this time. The complaint states that a witness saw the accused operative and a student removing boxes of Office of Legislative Affairs reports from Student Government offices.
The Senate President also alleges that accused operative was involved in a student fraternity (Alpha Tau Omega) and cites a specific incident involving that involves underage drinking and animal cruelty.

Intern: I was put in a position that I didn’t want to be put in, concerning my grades and stuff.
A.O.: I didn’t want for that to happen. I should have waited till after the semester to go out for a beer.

Florida State University fires the accused operative after campus police arrest him on a second-degree felony charge of extortion.
Police accuse him of threatening a 19-year-old male student with a failing grade if the student did not perform a sex act.

July 1998
Florida Capitol Police arrest the accused operative on eight charges:
- Two burglary counts
- Two counts of dealing in stolen property
- Two counts of possession of stolen property
- One count grand theft
- One count petit theft
Police allege he stole at least $10,000 in computer equipment from Florida House and Senate offices in 1996. He is released from the Leon County Jail on a $4,500 bond the following day.

December 1998
Prosecutors formally charge the accused operative with dealing in stolen property and burglary of a structure.

September 1999
The accused operative pleads no contest to dealing in stolen property and grand theft. The court accepts the plea and orders a jail sentence of three months and ten days (sentences run concurrently), three years of probation, and restitution.
The accused operative reports to the Leon County Jail on September 24, 1999.

The court denies the accused operative’s motion to reduce or modify his sentence for dealing in stolen property.

Accused operative steps down from the Presidential campaign for Rudy Giuliani “amid revelations of his arrests for allegedly extorting an FSU student in a sex case and his conviction for dealing in stolen state computers.”

“Floridians for Common Sense” organization begins making payments to the accused operative.
The payments total over $114,000 from 2012 thru 2018.

An organization named “Floridians for Common Sense” is registered with the Florida Division of Elections and the accused operative is named as the Treasurer. He is listed as the sole Custodian of Books and Accounts.

Oct 2025
Brian Nathan enters the special election for Florida State Senate District 14.
Early 2026
Brian Nathan meets with a survivor and learns his account involving the accused political operative. He also receives information about additional reported victims, the incident with a Boy Scout youth, the FSU police investigation, related court records, and the broader scope of the allegations.
Early 2026
Brian Nathan pledges that, if elected, he will demand an investigation by the Florida Democratic Party, raise public awareness to prevent the accused operative from gaining access to additional political events and potential victims, and take whatever steps are necessary to bring the allegations before the public.
March 2026
Brian Nathan Nathan wins the special election for State Senate without financial support, donations, or campaign assistance from the Florida Democratic Party. In fact, though the Chair of the Party was in the same building at the time, she declines to attend his swearing in ceremony.
Because this was a Special Election to fill a vacant seat, Nathan must campaign again for the November 2026 general election.
Early April 2026
According to two witnesses, a Florida Democratic Party liaison tells the newly-elected Senator Nathan that the Party will provide funding and assistance for his reelection, but that he must first distance himself from Party critics. This includes individuals attempting to bring these allegations forward.
April 2026
Though he promised to expose the allegations and help prevent the accused operative from accessing future victims at political events, Nathan voluntarily co-hosts a political dinner attended by that same operative.
June 2026
Weeks after the liaison meeting, The Florida Democratic Party begins contributing thousands of dollars to Nathan’s campaign for the first time. Some of those funds were donations from the alleged predator. Contributions are ongoing and total nearly $75,000 to date.
Sept. 17, 2026
Senator Brian Nathan sends supporters a campaign email responding to the public-interest investigation. he describes the call for action as “an attack on the campaign’s integrity”, states that it is trying to “distract and divide voters”, and refers to the efforts as “a political football”.
